  1. The antagonist,Aunt Mary lou, challenges the protagonist,Joelle,by not really telling her who she really is,like where she came from, who her family is,how her life was before she came into her life. She's also challenging her by making up stories about how she came into her life,I mean who'd believe that they came falling from a fright train in Chicago into there parents arms.

The author uses forshadowing in this book by making Joelle not like someone or she doesnt really pay attetion to that person but then making them important in the end.For example Joelle never borthered to pay attention to Carlos and now there like two peas in a pod,and whats that even better Carlos knows more about Joelle than Joelle know about her slef.

The major theme in this book is "finding yourslef"and knowing your limits, boundries and how to treat yourslef. The protagonist,Joelle, changed alot though out the story,by kowing more about her slef and who she wants around her,and more about her culture. Also how to appreciate herslef and the things around her.-Joi Tynes-3 period english

  2. The antagonist of the story is the Department of Homeland Security, otherwise known as the DHS. The DHS kidnapped Marcus and he was sent to a secret prison. The DHS interrogated Marcus because they thought he was the one who had to do with the terrorist attack. The DHS intimidated him and they sent him back into the jail cell every time he didn't cooperate with them. While he spent time in the secret prison of the DHS, they didn't show him any mercy and they didn't give him any food. Marcus was forced to answer all of their questions and soon he was free. Marcus was so angered with the actions of the DHS and he wanted to take them down. The author Cory Doctorow used foreshadowing by showing how powerful the DHS is and how they seem like they always get their way foreshadows that they will eventually get taken down. Ever since the DHS falsely accused Marcus for the terrorist attack, Marcus changes the way he thinks about the way the world is. In the beginning he was all about messing with computer systems and in the end all he cared about was taking down the DHS.

  5. The antagonist of the story Charlie when he got more intelligent. Even though Charlie is the protagonist he is also the antagonist of the story. Charlie battles him self because when he got more intelligent, he had lost more friends than he had before he wasn't intelligent. The author used foreshadowing in the book when the scientist told him that there are going to operate on him, in the beginning of the book. Then when they operate,in time he got intelligent. The major theme of the book is: "Don't take for granted of what you have" . The protagonist changed by his intelligence, for the worse. These three statement are the main idea of the story.

They antagonists, hired a kid named Brian to be friends with Rowley. The author uses foreshadowing when they talk about Greg thinking about Rowley by his side nd so in the end they end up being friends again. The major theme of the book is that friends should never be replaced by someone else. The prtagonist changes by the end of the story by turning from being lonely to having his friend again.

  8. Greg, the protagonist, has many fights with his brother Rodrick, the antagonist. First he always has a way to humiliate him.Second, they always get into some kind of fight that Rodrick started. Finally, Rodrick fed Greg's fish to a piranha. Greg never has a day without fighting with Rodrick. There was a scene in this book when Rodrick told Greg to jump off the diving board, he said it was nit scary at all. Then, immediately I knew he was up to something. I was right, when Greg got up there he was pushed down into the pool by Rodrick. Foreshadowing was simply noticeable in that scene. Finally, when Greg got his dog I thought the rest of this book was going to be based on "Mans best friend," but I was wrong nobody got along with Greg's dog, that dog just never listened. So then, they gave the dog to Greg's grandma because the dog only listened to her.

The author used forshadowing when Darcy was waiting for the bus and a car was standing accros the street. Later on Darcy found out that it was her father in the car. The theme of this story is that you should forgive someone only if you know that they are really sorry. Like the protagonist forgived her father because she knew that he was really sorry on what he did to Darcy's mom and her family.

  10. In the book im reading there is no antagonist because my book "Premonitions" is about mistery and the protagonist is searching for her best friend. The author makes the protagonist have visions to see the future which are clues for foreshadowing. The major theme of the story was when they finally found Emily, Gracie's "friend" which she hated. Now the protagonist doesn't feel hate or anger Gracie now is just a normal girl who is now getting along with Emily.

The theme of my book is courage.Gregor changed by the end of the story by being a encouraged boy to save his father and face evil rats that wanted him.

  12. The antogonist in my story is Hades. He dispises Percy Jackson, the protagonist. He lets all of his anger out on Percy just because his brother Zeus sent him to the underworld. Hades sends monsters out to get Percy and Zeus' lightning bolt. The author uses foreshadowing many times throughout the story. When Percy recieves a gift from his father the author doesn't explain what its for. For example, Percy recieved a pen from his father as a gift. The author didn't tell us what it was for until the moment was right. The pen was actually a sword that Percy would use for future battles. The theme of this book is action and adventure. The protagonist changes a lot from the beginning of the book to the end. At first, Percy was a normal teenage boy going to school when he started getting clues. The way he started reading things were actually important. They gave him answers to what he needed. By the end Percy acted much more like a demigod.

  13. The antagonist in the story challenges in a indirect way. The leader sends others to capture the protagonists. The antagonist for the series is probably going to continue this until she finds the right time to attack herself. Foreshadowing is used the in the oracle. The oracle, or Rachel in this case, recites a poem that clue what may happen in the future, its never really clear, you won't understand the message until it all over.
The theme of the book is Greek mythology Jason, learn that he belongs in the Roman camp, Piper finally understands why her father can't be near her, and Leo finds something that his serious about. But is only the first book to find out what will happen I need the wail until next November.

  14. The antagonist, Eli's father contradicts the protagonist by not letting Eli and his family out of the compound. To make matters worse Eli's mom is ill. He is also the antagonist because while they were in the compound he has been conductin twised experiments. Eli's father even put a passcode lock on the doors to secure them in. The reason for this is because out of all the years they lived in the compound, they never really used one of the computers.

S.A Bodeen uses foreshadowing by reciting a poem by T.S Eliot saying how the world will end. This symbolizes how Eli's world ends later on in the book . The only difference is that in Eliots poem he says that the world ends with a whimper. Eli's world ended with a literal bang.

The main theme of the book is family. By this I mean the struggles and challenges a family faces. Eli changes jurastically during the book. In the beginning of the book Eli is a spoiled kid whom nobody cares about. During the book Eli realizes that his family really does care about him. He finds this out while he is trying to get out of the compound.

  15. 1 book
Diary of a Wimpy Kid the ugly truth

The protagonist Greg and the antagonist Rowley are in a big fight ,the aren't friends anymore. First, Rowley and Greg fight over a stupid thing and Greg acts childish because he lost his best friend but can't admit to anyone.

The author foreshadows in the story by in the book before the author told or showed how Greg and Rowley were fighting so in this part the author put them both in a fight and see how they will turn out.

The major theme is friendship and how to be more mature. In the beginning of the story Greg was childish and was lonely without Rowley. Then At the end of the story Greg became more mature by advice from his family and became friends with Rowley again.

  16. The antagonist of the story are the police officers and they challenge the protagonist because Holly does not want to get caught and be found because they would take her back to the home she was in before she had left and she couldn't go back to that brutal life again. She will always have to travel long distances just to not be seen by the police. She is always running even if its a good place to stay.

The author uses foreshadowing by Holly writing in her journal. Holly would write what she is going to do and what she predicts is going to happen. For example when Holly was living in the box she had found she had went to get garbage bags to cover the box from the rain and from preventing it from being wet. Every time she would write in her journal she would say the sky is getting thicker and the rain is going to be hard and everyday she was preparing for it.

The main theme of the book is survival and a suspense of whats going to happen next. Holly has to be always focused just to survive when other kids don't even need to worry about the things she does and goes through. She is always angry and always has to put these walls in front of her to protect her true personality from other people, before they can hurt her. During the end of the story she begins to soften up when a girl with her same story had came to her rescue when she was being attacked. The girl had brought her to a home that cared for her and treated her with respect and had loved her. That gave her experiences she hadn't been through before like going to school or her first Thanksgiving ever.

  18. The antagonist in Sweet 16 is Lindsee. At first she was Teagan's best friend and she ended up being her enemy. The protagonist is Teagan. The antagonist in the story challenges the protagonist by they both being rich and seeing who can get more of what they want. They challenge each other in who can get the better clothes, the more relaxing spa and the better boy,but they never challenge each other in who can be the better person. They are two snobby girls that are rude to people that don't act or look how they want them to. The author uses foreshadowing in the begininng by giving Teagan a chance to change and be a better person. Ever since Teagan's mother past away, her father has been having a hard time showing his affection toward her. So he spoiled her to try to show the affection, but the truth was it was a way to keep her happy at the moment. As she grew up she started to treat people cruley. The author wrote that her other friends made her gift baskets and gave her gifts, which would give her the chancce to show she appreticated that. Instead, she just told them to leave it anywhere, but she never checked what it was or thanked them. In the end, "future" Teagan shows present Teagan the horrible life shes living and how she still has time to change and be a better person. It took a while for present Teagan to realize what she was doing and how she was acting. The main theme in the novel was character. Teagan need to have character. She needed to be herself. She was competing with other wealthy people and realizing she was a harsh person to the people that loved her. By the end of the story Teagan changes by her being aware of that in the future she was going to be alone and never pleased with what she had. She always wanted more. She then noticed that when her mother past away, she wanted Teagan to be a good person. Teagan became conscious that she was exactlly what her mother didn't want her to be. She decided to change and become a greater person inside and out.

  19. Fagin, the antagonist, reels Oliver into pickpocketing. Fagin then sends Oliver over to assist Sikes in burglary. Sikes is another antagonist, although not as portentous to the story. Oliver is shot by a servant of the house he tries to steal from. As Sikes escapes from the scene, the house's master takes in Oliver as one of her own. As Oliver travels to London, he meets a young scallywag along the way. Abstruse foreshadowing takes over, as Oliver does not know what he is walking into, and neither do the readers. The boy leads him to Fagin, later on. But, naive as Oliver was, he thought the boy was helping him. The main theme is how strong emotions like hate, love, and greed affect people. Eventually, in the end, Oliver lives happily ever after.

  21.      My current independent reading book is "Artemis Fowl" by Eoin Colfer.

In the overall book, the protagonist is Artemis Fowl. He also seems to be the antagonist, since he has uncovered knowledge of a world under the earth called the "Lower Elements." By doing so, Artemis puts the world at risk and could spark war with the humans ("Mud People" as what the magical inhabitants call them). Artemis also kidnapped fairy Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon unit (The LEPrecon unit is a unit of police of the Lower Elements that protect the world from humans and contain troubles within the world). As the result, Commander Root of the unit is of to rescue Holly. Artemis is a greedy 12 year old that uses his discoveries and stolen items to save the wealth of his family that his father lost most of. Artemis struggles at first and he causes trouble at the Lower Elements for finding out about the world and it's contents. He doesn't realize on what he has done was disastrous and should be restored. Soon he discovers this bad scenario could turn reality and he needed to restore the world and prevent it from war! The author, Eoin Colfer uses foreshadowing on the book to show future events and happenings. He would simply use certain details of events in the chapter and connect it to the future events happening next. With this connection, readers of this book and other books can comprehend the books' events and overall idea. The overall theme in the book is that war never solves anything. It usually causes destruction and fatalities. If we work together in peace, we can just fix the problem or share the things we need together. This is based on the rivalry between the humans and fairies. The protagonist's (Artemis's) change toward the end of the book is unknown since I haven't finished the book yet, but I can tell by the events that has happened so far and the foreshadowing of the author that Artemis fixes the mistakes he has made and will save the world from war between the fairies and humans. He would also probably give up being a criminal and use his smarts for the good of the Lower Elements.

  22. The protagonist Teagan Phillips is challenged by the antagonist,Teagan's "best friend" Lindsee Hunt in many ways. One way Lindsee challenges Teagan is when Lindsee and Teagan are arguing about how Lindsee wanted Max,Teagan's boyfriend, last fall when Teagan metioned that Max was trying modeling that summer and Lindsee did'nt know.Another time they challenged eachother was when Teagan said by the time Lindsee's birthday comes by she will have a boyfriend who will buy her anything she wants and saying if she does have a sweet 16 she will have Coldpay perform at her party unlike Teagan who only has a DJ.Although in the book when Teagan turns into a ghost she founds out Lindsee and Max were lying to her and they were going out behind Teagan's back.

The author uses forshadowing in the book when Teagan tells her best friend Lindsee that Max is doing modelling.Lindsee's reaction was shocked and said "i did'nt know this!" so Teagan was taken back a bit wondering why would Lindsee have to know.Teagan even told her saying Max's
her boyfriend, not Lindsee's.Teagan eventually founds out Max was cheating on her with Lindsee.

The main theme of this book is dont take things for granted and people are not what they seem.Teagan would take money for granted and mistreat people.Teagan thought her stepmom-to-be was a person who just wanted to faten her up but soon realized Karen is a wonderful person.Teagan thought Lindsee and Max were perfect and her best friend but teagan dicovers they were dating .

  24. The antagonist, President Snow, is challenging the protagonist, Katniss, by telling her she must convince the Districts that she is really in love with Peeta or she will be execute. This is a big challenge because she has one chance to do it by being the host of a tour for her District.

In the book the author is foreshadowing by Katniss's prep team blabbing about how she is going to be in the Quarter Quell. The Quarter Quell happens every 25 years to celebrate the anniversary of districts' defeats. Since Katniss was never alive for one before she gets to no what goes on for it. She is also lucky because it was her first year being a victor and she gets to participate in the Quarter Quell.

The theme of the book so far that changes the protagonist is romance. The romance that Katniss is faking with Peeta is very critical because if she messes up the tour she will be killed "accidentally" by Panem's President.

  25. The antagonists of Little Woman are not in fact, people. They are emotions. Amy's selfishness, Meg's vanity, Jo's pride, and Beth struggles to break out of her shell. If the protagonist is Jo so is the antagonist – she's her own worst enemy.

An example of foreshadowing in the book, is when Amy, youngest of the sisters, complains that she is never going to get kissed. Her neighbor Laurie, promises that he will kiss her before he dies. This is leading you to the future, and their marriage.

What I feel is the major theme of this novel is growing up and finding yourself. I feel the characters all have their own flaws as they grow up and make their own choices and decisions. In doing this, they find out what they want and truly express who they are and who they always were from the beginning. The March sisters are all unique people with their own desires and dreams and throughout the book they find their way.

The author foreshadows the book by the future senses by teaching them not to mess with your parents and listen to them always so they don’t get mad at you. The them of the book is not to get your parents mad and to be a good friend and that life is not ever going to be perfect.

Then later on Finber wants to fight him back for the bullying he has done ,but he controls himself not too. Then Finber couldn't handle it and fight Chris Perez gives him more belief that he is a vampire.

Rook needs to get there to save his friend Eudoxia from a bullet wound. The author uses foreshadowing in a pretty blatant way. He talks about how one of the main character's brother is lost on the side of a huge cliff. So the main character wants to get him. This foreshadows that the main character will fine a way to get to his brother. The major theme of the book is how a young miner NAte Quarter tries to escape and live life to it's fullest. Throughout the story he breaks out of a mine, is hunted down, starts living in the big city Great Glade and plays thousandsticks, get swooped into an army on the side of a war he isn't on, and tries to save his friend Eudoxia's life.

  39. the antagonist of my book is Luke and he challenges Percy Were he nearly almost died when he fell of a cliff. Percy the protagonist. The theme of this book action, mystery, and adventure. The author used foreshadowing when he made us think that Annebeth was died until Percy's dreams and the messages from those dreams. Percy changes at the end because he is more mature after having to hold a enormours boulder which left him a scar from his hair turning gray.

  40. The antagonist in my book challenges the protagonist. The antagonist is a big marlin and the protagonist is Santiago, an old, weak man. The marlin pulls Santiago far out to see and challenges him so that he cannot be caught. The old man is weak and it would be hard for him to catch the fish. Three days have passed since he left shore, and he is running out of food and water. The author uses foreshadowing by showing how the apprentice, Manolin catches a very big fish like how he does later in the story. The major theme of my book is determination and never giving up. Santiago could have givven up and went back to shore, but he didn't. Instead, he stayed with that fih until he was able to catch the marlin. The main character changes from the beginning of the book to the end. Santiago changes by being more determined and more independent.
