There are some similarities and differences between the protagonist of my book, Marcus, and Alfred. One similarity between the two is that they are both mediocre in what they do. Alfred is mediocre in boxing and Marcus is mediocre in hacking the internet. Another similarity is that they couldn't be trusted by people. The Epsteins didn't trust Alfred because they found out that his friend tried to rob their store. They also have one best friend. Marcus' best friend is Darryl and Alfred's is James. One difference between them is that Alfred's hobby is boxing and Marcus' hobby is hacking computers. Another difference is that Alfred doesn't go to school and Marcus does. Another difference between Marcus and Alfred is that Marcus is mischievous and Alfred is more humble and he doesn't get into trouble - Shawn Thomas
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention why Marcus couldn't be trusted... he isn't trusted because there is some proof that he hacked the school computers.
ReplyDeleteThe similarities and differences of the protagonist in my book (Teagan) and the protagonist in the book "They Caged the Animals at Night" (Jennings Michael Burch) is that first of all they are different genders. Teagan is a girl and Jennings is a boy. Another example on how they contrast is that Teagan is very rich and nurtured and has a good life. Though Jennings lives in poverty and his mother can't always support him and his brothers. He is always being sent to homes and orphanages when Teagan has a very big house and is very well educated and goes to a private school. Another point why Teagan and Jennings are different is because Teagan has money to do anything she wants when Jennings can't even throw a birthday party or just have a gift for himself. Also Jennings was brought up to the world at a very young age and wasn't very much nurtured even though his mother loved him very much and Teagan doesn't even know how cruel and hard the real world is. Both characters compare in which they both feel very alone and confused. Even though Teagan has everything she wants she really isn't happy. She barely talks to her father any more since she was a little girl and her mother was still alive. When Jennings doesn't know what to do when he is at the homes. He doesn't know what to do and just is confused and eventually gets used to it which is very depressing. They look very different and they are, but they some what do have the same story and which each other can relate too.

P.S : Happy holidays see everyone back in 2011!
In my second book protagonist Finber Frame who is 16 years old has little similarities to Jennings from The Caged Animals at Night. First, they both try to fit in. Finber try to fit in school as the cool kid and Jennings try to fit in every orphanage he joins. However, they are different in many ways. For example,Finber lives a good life he has a mom and dad and haves what he need, but Jennings lives a harder life in poverty, with only his mom around who is sick most of the time and for that Jennings has to go to orphanage.Second, age difference all of this bad experience that Jennings had to face threw is when he was very young and Finber is 16.Lastly, the have different problems. Jennings have to take care of himself alone and tries to face life alone as well. For Finber he has symptoms of a vampire so he believes hes ones but exactly not.So he try to deal with being a "vampire" and trying to fit in like he is a the cool kid.In conclusion,Jennings and Finber have very little similarities, but they have a lot difference.

My charecter Teagen Phillps is diffent from Ponyboy Curtis because Teagen is a rich obnoxius 15 year old girl that wants and gets everything she wants she lives with her father and stepmother.Ponyboy is a sweet smart 14year old boy that lives with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop after there parents died.Teagen is very wealthy and lives in a large sized house.POnyboy lives in a normal sized house and he is not so wealthy but he has.Teagen has obnoxious friends that act just like her and Ponyboy's friends are almost just like him Ponyboy dosnt have rich friends like Teagen does his friends live the same lifestyle as him.One simularity that Teagen and Ponyboy have is that they both lost there motheR(Ponyboy also lost his father).TEagen and Ponyboy have a whole lot of diffrences and one simularity.
ReplyDeleteThere are a few similarities and a lot differences between my character Tal and Jennings from They Cage the Animals at Night. First Tal's mom is very sick, so sick that she might be close to death, like Jennings's mom. Tal wants to find his dad and Jennings wanted to find out who was his dad so it is kind of similar. Now for th differences. Tal lives in a tower inside a castle Jennings lives in New York. Tal has a brother and a sister while Jennings has 5 brothers. Tal and Ponyboy also have similarities and differences. Ponyboy and Tal both get in a lot of trouble like when Ponyboy and Johnny murdered Bob. Tal got into a lot of trouble when Tal fell off the Tower and got captured by raiders that lived in the frozen wasteland. Tal and Ponyboy also both lost their dads(Ponyboy's dad got killed). Tal and Ponyboy also Have differences Ponyboy lives in the 1960 while Tal lives in like a made up land. Ponyboy has no mother and Tal does. Pony has two brothers and Tal only has one. Tal has similarities and differences in both books. Mostly differences because it is a fictional story made up of the author's imagination while The Outsiders and They Cage The Animals at Night are more realistic.

There are some similarities and differences between Greg and Lorraine. They both have a best friend. Greg's best friend is Rowley. Lorraine's best friend is John. They both care about people. Greg cares about Rowley and Lorraine cares about Mr. Pignati when they were stealing money from Mr.Pignati for their fake charity. One difference between Greg and Lorraine is that Greg is trying to recover his friendship nd Lorraine is trying to look for someone she can count on. Finally, Greg'shas a mom and dad and Lorraine has only her mom casue her dad died. >:( i can write like a 8th grader!
ReplyDeleteThe similarities in my independant reading book with They Cage the animals at Night and Wolves of the beyond Lone wolves are both characters Jennings and Faolan start out with a complicated life. Then they both lose someone important to them like their mothers. The differences with both characters are Jennings has to go to homes whenever his mom get really sick. For Faolan he has to try and start taking care of himself. These are some of my similarities and differences.

The greatest similarity I have noticed in Eli and Jennings is that they both feel alone. Both of them have a family but they still feel alone in some way. My protagonist, Eli is in a room full of possessions but all he really wants is to normal again. Jennings has alot of family but still he feels alone because nobody truly cares about him. For Eli, his birthday is celebrated only by himself. His entire family sees it as only the day they had to retreat into the compound. One contrast between both of them is that Eli is rich and his father is a billionaire while Jenning's family is very low on money.

The protagonist of my book has a lot of similarity with the Caged Animal at Night. They both feel upset. Jennings dealt with pain most of his life and Charlie Had to deal with his life for being mentally challenged. The difference is that they have different problem. Jennings got abuse and Charlie is mentally challenged. This is there similarity and difference.
ReplyDeleteIn my book the "Prophecy of the sisters" I noticed a big simailarity in the sisters and Jennings. The sisters and Jennings both dont have there parents. The sisters, Lia and Alice had lost there mother when they were very young. Now they are teenagers and they had just lost there father and so now the are orphans, but they are being taken care of by there mothers sister, Virginia. Now Jennings has a mother who has been very sick lately, and so Jennings has been in and out of homes just like his brothers. Now Jennings is not an orphan but he is a foster child. And the way he has been in and out of homes it would seem like he doesnt have a mother. But some diffrences i also noticed is the Jennings is young loney boy who just wants his mother and family back and to get out of these horrible homes he has been in. For the sisters they are two rich twin teenage orphans that have two diffrent identies, wants, and needs.Lia wants to know what her sister, Alice, is keeping from her and what that mark on her wrist means or stands for and I think most of all find out how or who killed her father in the libary. While Alice is trying to keep her secret and stick to her plan...

Oliver Twist is a young orphan boy, who can be quiet, but when teased or tempted, can be very hazardous (as he has almost murdered a boy.) Jennings is a very quiet boy, who has no father, but has a family that is there only on occasion. Jennings is constantly moving from one place to another. Oliver is sold into slavery at a very young age. Although, the times are different, both boys are in similar situations. Jennings is not adventurous and brave. Oliver is not either. Both boys are considered "weak" or "small." Jennings lives in America, whereas Oliver lives in London. Neither of the boys have too much money at all to their name. They are both ill treated by their masters at times. Oliver does not have anything to help him cope with obstacles along the way. Jennings has Doggie to comfort him when things get rough. They both seem to be somewhat quiet boys. Having not finished "Oliver Twist," I am not entirely sure about his character. Jennings appears to be a bit shy, and quiet at times. When he loves something, he might stand up for it.

Artemis Fowl is the main character of the book, "Artemis Fowl" by Eoin Colfer (which is my current independent reading). He is totally different to the "They Cage The Animals At Night" main character, Jennings Michael Burch. Artemis is basically a 12 year old wealthy genius and a criminal mastermind. Jennings however is a kid that has suffered a lost childhood because of the lost of integrity in the family. Artemis is a genius that was interested on a book that contained valuable info about a world underground where magical creatures thrive and hide from the humans. Jennings on the other hand was just on a mission to find the missing piece of the family and get his life back since his family is in a "integrity situation" with each other. Artemis's genius and curiosity lead to the discovery of the book which is not suppose to be seen by human eyes. In theory this made him distracted and became a criminal mastermind. Jennings was more of the lonely side and was just looking for hope reunite with his family, and find a way to fix the integrity of the family (which was later found out that it was Sal that restored the family).
ReplyDeleteThe diffrence between ponyboy and teagan is that tean has a beatiful life with all she could possibly want all the money the popularity but she doesn't relize boyfriend is going out with Teagan's best friend. On the other hand ponyboy has great friends with a pure heart and soal but not such a great life. His parents died in a car accident but,Ponyboy learns to apprieciate everything he has even if its alittle bit. Teagan has everything she could possibly want and doesn't appricate anything her poor father gives her. - vanessa(:

ReplyDeleteIn The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson is the protagonist. I would compare him to the main character of The Outsiders, Ponyboy. Ponyboy is a teenage boy who gets himself into a lot of trouble due to gangs. I can compare and contrast this. Percy doesnt get himself into fights with gangs specifically, but with gods and monsters. They both weren't really up to fighting but they did it for a reason. Ponyboy did it because he was a Greaser and he was never getting along with the Soc's. Percy had to fight because he had to continue on his journey and gather what he needed.

Jackie and Jeannings have many differences in many ways.Jeannings has a father but does not know much about him and his father is usally called the old man.Basically,Jeannings does not have any relationship with his dad.Jackie is a girl who has a lovely relationship with his dad and they are having a bond by going to Italy.Jennings has been to many foster homes before and Jackie has not.Jackie might end up in a foster home because her father is now in coma, and two men have taken her some where else.I think they might take Jackie to a foster home but I must keep reading to find out.The only thing similar between Jackie and Jennings is that they both have a lot of love for their parents.Jackie has love for her dad and Jeannings has a a lot of love for his mom.

Greg and Jennings are quite similar. First, they both have parents although, Greg has a dad. Second, Greg recalls some of his worst moments in school like Jennings' experience in school.Third, they both do not always get what they desire.Fourth, they both have very troublesome brothers. Finally, Greg has lost one of his best friends which is related to how Jennings lost Mark. Also, these two characters are different. Fist, Greg does not have anyone to go to unlike Jennings who has Sal on his side. Second, Greg does not have his brother to look up to unlike, Jennings who has Gene and Walter.
ReplyDeleteGracie and Ponyboy both have no parents. They both have to be taking care of from someone else in the family. They both still miss their parents and wished they were still alive. Ponyboy and Jennings are similar to Katniss because all three of these characters are all brave in their own way. Katniss was brave by taking her sisters place in The Hunger Games. (Deadliest game ever) Ponyboy saves the kids from the burning church. And Jennings is always sent to homes and faces the fact that his family is is always fighting.

Matilda Cook from Fever 1793 has many similarities and differences with Jennings Michael Burch from They Cage the Animals at Night. Some similarities are that they both have struggles and challenges they face at a young age. During and after the plague was spreading Matilda had to find ways to survive. Her grandfather had to put her in many homes in different states that the fever hadn't spread. She was alone wondering how her mother was knowing she was sick. Jennings had his mother sick as well. In addition, he was put in different foster homes while his mother recovered and was alone for a very long time. Although he met people along the way that helped him, those people seem to leave and he would end up alone again. Some differences were that Matilda had her grandfather and family members around to guide her. She also had people who treated her in a kind and formal way. In contrast, Jennings had a hard childhood with people treating him cruley. Some of the people he met at adoption homes were kind and cared for him more then his own family. Therefore, these characters had simliar and different challenges in their life.

ReplyDeletein my book "Sweet 16" Teagan Phillips is VERY different from Jennings Michael Burch in the book "They Cage the Animals at Night".One of the reasons that they're different is obviously their gender.A real reason Teagan and Jennings are different is that Teagan is filthy rich and Jennings can barely afford a new pair of shoes.Teagan does'nt care about money. She practically throws away money because in the book it mentioned that Teagan bought cell phone cozies that were $100 for four people Lindsee,Mya,Ashley, and herself and they only used it for a week.Jennings though has his brother George who works for a living to support his mom and brothers.Overall Jennings and Teagan are very different but they have one thing in common they both have one thing in common, they both lost someone close to their heart.Teagan lost her mom and Jennings lost his brother,Jerome and Mark.

ReplyDeleteIn my book, the main character Josephine March and Ponyboy Curtis do share some similarities. Throughout each book I realized family and the strong bond they share will overcome any obstacle. In Little Women, the March family struggle to live as they wish with a father in the war, and an ailing mother. Yet, when the whole family was together they know that they have to be grateful for what they do have. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy has a strong brotherly bond with his friends. They will always be there for each other, as will the March sisters.

Manolin, the young boy that helps Santiago in my book is simjlar to Lorraine and very different from John in ways. Like Lorraine, Manolin is very kind and helpful. He respects the old and is very generous. He is always there for Santiago like how Lorraine was always there for Mr. Pignati. Manolin is different from John because he doesn't smoke, drink, or like using other people's money.
ReplyDeleteIn my independent reading book, the main character Nate is very different from John because Nate is responsible. The only thing they might have in common is that Nate bought out of a mine, which is akin to what John would do. But the differences outweigh the similarities. Nate is responsible as said before and he always tries to better himself, while John keeps on smoking and drinking. Nate's friend, Eudoxia, is like Lorraine in a few ways. First off, they are both caring for John/Nate, second, they both have an "interest" in John/Nate (I mean I think Eudoxia does.) But the difference between them is that Eudoxia takes risks and comes from a wealthy family, and Lorraine is quite the opposite.
