  1. There isn't much of a difference between 8th and 7th grade. The only key differences is that you have typing instead of internet tech and (for us) you don't have art class. You'll also have different teachers for your classes, most of the time. You'll also have to "exhibit" stronger writing and math skills. The teachers won't give you as much "amnesty" as 7th grade either. Because of this, you will have to be "stellar" in order to stay in the honors classes. But overall, they isn't much of a difference between 7th and 8th graders, it actually is less of a change then 6th to 7th grade. That causes some people to run like chickens with their heads cut off in the hallway during the first week of school.

  2. My experience as an 8th grader at Alexander Hamilton is so great compared to my 7th grade experience. Even though I didn't hate 7th grade, comparing it to the 8th grade makes me want to hate it. For example, I hated so many classes. I really hated Social Studies. I liked learning the subject and Mr. Stout was really cool but we had many disruptive students in our class which was terrible for me because with them being so obnoxious, I had trouble learning the things Mr. Stout was teaching. This year my History class is excellent and we don't have any problems in our class. I also hated computer class. The teacher hated me and apparently he didn't like my "attitude." The only thing that is terrible about this year is that now he frequently subs in my Phys. Ed. class and he is now subbing for Mr. Fisk's health class. I don't try to get in trouble but it seems like anything I do, he hates. Whenever he chastises me I become very nonplussed instantly with his craziness. He is one of the teachers I dislike. One thing I liked and in some ways disliked about last year was the attention I was given last year during the basketball season from older kids. Many chased me around and said I was cute which was really an imposition for me because everywhere I went, I got chase by big people. This year I'm happy because they stopped doing stuff like that. Another thing I disliked about last year was that I was in a lot of classes with people that would misbehave a lot and things got out of hand really quickly. Fortunately, I am in most my classes with honors students who are more civilized this year. One thing I really hated about both this year and last year is that I never did a lot of homework which hurt me later on in the quarter. One thing I hated about last year and this year was how I was very notorious with substitute teachers because I would get into trouble a lot and they learn my name very quickly. This happened with at least 8 substitute teachers and I'm getting tired of it. I like tricking teachers in telling them my name is Joshua but they never get tricked because they know who I am. another thing kids like me have to be always aware of is there grades. Earlier this year I was extremely scared of the grades I might of had and I had a lot of them. Me failing to get a lot of good grades in Algebra got me scared. I needed to get 100s on all my homeworks just to get an 80 and you need an 85 to pass the class. Thankfully, Ms. Abbate let me stay in the class. You shouldn't get caught up in all these bad grades and have to work extremely hard just to pass. The problem I have is that I don't work up to my full potential until the very end where it is too late. From my past experience I learned that I have to work hard through the whole school year and I can't be slacking off.

    P.S. I can't underline

  3. My experience as a 8th grader is very different from my experience as a 7th grader. In 7th grade I used to pass most of my tests and now Im failing. I haven't been working as hard as I did last year. I haven't been surgical in my grades for my honors classes so I could pass. I haven't been as energetic as last year when I used to get alot of improving grades. This year I have been lazy and didnt even study for most of my midterms. Last year, it was easy but this year it is difficult in most of my classes. Most teachers get on my nerves this year. I know that I have to anticipate 9th grade but I havent been showing it.

  4. My experience as a 8th grader is very different from 7th grade. In 8th grade I have be slacking off and not doing my homework this year. I could do better is that i don't try. Last year as a 7th grade i did most of my work and my grades were in the 70 and 80 but this year my grades are below that. I have been lazy and not studying so that why am failing my test. I believe that i can do better is that i don't push my self to the limit to do my work. Some times i don't do my work because i get distracted to easily. I haven't exhibit that am ready for 9th grade. I have been instantaneous getting in trouble this year than i did in 7th grade. My hypothesis is to do better in school and pass my classes.

  5. My experience as an 8th grader is different from my experience as a 7th grader. Some things are still the same. For example, my test grades are 'constant' and do not cahnge as well as my other grades. All my test grades since last year are low and just passing. This year, I 'exhibit' more interest in SOME subjects. This year is a better experience too. I met many new teachers and they are alot of fun. Some make learning fun as well. Even though they are fun, they are strict especially when you don't do your work. Some of the teachers that I am with, including the helpers, just annoy me. I did get a little bit lazier and get tired of doing a lot faster. The honors classes have changed and I have to stay very focused in order to stay in those classes. How the year is going so far and my last year experience, I now know that I have to work hard if I like it or not.

  6. 7th grade was new for me because i had to adapt to a new school, know how things work around the school like how much classes we have and what time were expected to be there. At first when i got to the school i was shy around my new teachers that i had, but now i feel confidante around them.8th grade is better for me because i know how things work at school.I'm use to having the older kids around. Finally, to me this year has been better to me then last year.

  7. My experiences as an 8th grader have changed tremendously since the 7th grade at Alexander Hamilton Middle and High School. The things that have changed for the good and for the bad are the students, teachers, and the work. The students are different because as 8th graders we are more independent and more concerned with our friends instead of our schoolwork. Our schoolwork is infrequently done on time because 8th graders feel that other things are more important. In the 7th grade students do their homework on time because they are new in the building and are very shy. They don’t have many friends and they are not really familiar with the rules so they do not want to take any chances of getting in trouble.

The teachers in the 8th grade are different in some ways. They are not very flexible with the rules because they think that 8th graders should already know what the rules are and how to act in school. The 7th graders have teachers that are not really strict because they know that the 7th graders are unfamiliar with their teachers and their expectations. The 7th graders aren’t chronic talkers and they do not chronically hand their homework in late. In the 8th grade I think that students don’t really care about what happens to them if they do not do their work because many of them say their parents don’t hit them anymore. As an 8th grader I don’t always do my work because I am forgetful. I try to remember so much that I forget it. My advice to 7th graders is to write your homework down in your planner and do not worry about what happens at home. Just make sure you have all of your stuff together.

For 8th graders the work is harder and there is a lot more of the work. You have to use more resources to figure out the answers to homework, labs, and class work. There is more writing and everything is supposed to get graded. For 7th graders the work is easy in the beginning and there isn’t a large amount of homework to do. During the end of the 3rd quarter, the work starts to get a little harder. My advice to you is to make sure you are prepared because if you are not your grades are going to go down because you will be suffering academically. Make sure you do not have an inveterate habit of not writing things down in your planner because in the 8th grade there will be a lot of information for you to remember.

  8. There is a big difference between the seventh and eight grade in growth. When your a seventh grader your just coming up to Alexander Hamilton for the first time and dont really konw what to expect. There is much more drama and many kids tend to be defficent in their work.As when your in eight grade you begin to knonw what goes on,become more mature and have a lot more priorities to take care of.When i was in the eighth grade i dont see much of a change with me besides my work.Overall i am a positive student and always try my best.I worked to hard to give up now.If i cant have one thing done i make sure there is another solution to my problem.Right now i feel like i am falling behind in some of my classes with all the assignmments i am given. But just need to take time and stay focus.

  9. The difference between 8th grade and 7th is the maturity. For example when you are playing a video game and you level up, you become good at it. Same for going to a higher grade. We all were in 7th grade (us 8th graders). Then as the year goes by your work ethic starts to imprecise. I also think the defense is the way you mature. When you get into seventh grade you don't no how to mature. In 8 grade the pressure is on you. You are one step from high school. The work and your attitude count way more now than then. This is the corrected version.
