Assignment # 6: 8th Grade

Task: Write a compound sentence using the following pairs of words for EACH sentence (HINT: not all words are from Unit 18, use pages 4,5 for guidance):

1. persistent, agitate
2. preside, deity
3. supersede, jurisdiction
4. dissident, nemesis
5. residual, annuity

This assignment is due Monday, May 9th @ 7:30 AM

  1. 1. I stayed PERSISTENT when I was climbing to the top of the rope, but it was hard because the swinging of the rope AGITATED me.

    2. Everyone listens to the DEITY when it PRESIDES them, but if you didn't listen to it then you have to suffer the consequences.

    3. The company SUPERSEDED the supervisor; he abused his JURISDICTION over the workers.

    4. The man's NEMESES and DISSIDENTS took advantage of the man's loss and attacked him; this was the worst time of his life ever.

    5. The man sued his job for not paying him his full ANNUITY; he eventually got back his RESIDUAL money.

  2. It AGITATED me how the people in the crown kept on whispering and talking, but i stayed persistent and kept on singing.

    In the play, the DIETY PERSIDES the villagers to make sure they do the right thing.

    The JURISDICTION of the police officer was taken too far; his position may be superseded because of this.

    The superhero is the DISSIDENT, and because of this, his sidekick became his new NEMESIS.

    Jane did not get her full ANNUITY for this year, so she called her insurance company, and later recieved her RESIDUAL money.

  3. I was persistent when I was trying to do the rings in gym but I got agitated becuase I was short.

    The deity used to preside his slaves to cook him food becuase he was powerful.

    I wanted to supersede the judge becuase I wanted to make the jurisdiction that the criminal was guilty and he had to be jail for his whole life.

    My nemesis was desisdent so I had to defend my country because he caused trouble.

    When I received my annuity from my job that I worked in so Id ecided to spend it on clothes. Then I received my residual money adn noticed that I only had a dollar left.

  4. 1. John persistently agitated Chris about his baseball game, it made him more nervous which caused him to do bad.

    2. Many people preside their deity, for forgiveness, and so their problems will get better.

    3. The judge made some very inaccurate jurisdictions in court; she was supersede with another judge.

    4. Samantha decided to dissident the love note from Johnny, which made them nemesis because she told the entire school.

    5. Robert used the residual of annuity; he needed the rest of the money so his son could go to college.

    2. The deity had to preside over the village because he wanted sacrifices from them.

    3. The old mob leader's jurisdiction was so small, they had to supersede him with a tougher leader.

    4. Someone who is a dissident can be a good lawyer, but they will also have many nemesis.

    5. Bill took all his residual money from his annuity, and he used it to buy a new car.
