Assignment # 18

Assignment: Define the word "satire" and then give at least one example of satire used in the April 1st issue of The Raider Reporter.

This assignment is due April 6th 7:30 am

    For Example: In "A Rocky Situation for Hamilton"
    They took Sleepy Hollow's Headless Horse Man, and turned it into The Head-full Wolf.

    FOR EXAMPLE-Mr.Celente looked up and saw a huge,gorrilla-looking thing running away.
    I think they exaggerated because that looks like our mascot.

    I think satire was used in the articles "A Rocky Situation For Hamilton" because of the screenshot of our mascot and how it was decribed. Another example would be in the article "Music on a Schedule" and how Mr. Rios has to work with 2 artists.

    Ex 1: In the article "Thompson Tapped for Mars Mission” satire was used when it said that Mr. Thompson was going to Mars, when he really isn't going.
    Ex2. Another example of satire is in the article, “A Rocky Situation for Hamilton” when they described that Mr.Celente and Mr. DiNunzio saw a "large unidentified, gorilla-looking creature" in the woods. The article said that it might be the red coyote wandering around Greenburgh this past winter, but in the picture it shows the creature standing up like a human so it couldn't have been a coyote. It looks a lot like our mascot. Also, at the bottom of the page it shows the name of our mascot, "Rocky, the Red Raider” and the name of the article is A ROCKY Situation for Hamilton.

    For example,in "A Rocky Situation for Hamilton",Mr.Celente heard tree branches being snapped off,and later I could see its tracks were really big-like the two of my feet put together.Mr.Celente was totally over-exagerrated about this creature,and the descripitions are very similar to our mascot.

  27. Satire is a literary form of writing or art in which it ridicules a subject for provoking or preventing change. Humor is usually added to get the viewers to comprehend such irony.

    Ex 1: On "Thompson Tapped for Mars Mission", Mr. Thompson would bring certain belongings to his fake trip like his skeleton, his beaker and season 6 of "The Simpsons".

    Ex 2: On "A Rocky Situation for Hamilton", the "hairy, human - like creature" and "red Bigfoot" was just Rocky the Red Raider, our mascot.

    In the article Thompson Tapped For Mars Mission, satire is used because all though Mr. Thompson is a science teacher, there is no way he is traveling to Mars aboard a NASA craft.

    1.) For example, the article " Thompson Tapped For Mars Mission", he is definitely not going up to Mars any chance. (I wouldn't, I rather go to Jupiter!)

    2.) The second example is "A Rocky Road for Hamilton", which they clearly named our mascot in the title "Rocky". Then, also at the end of the article they said that the creature was like a "red bigfoot" which is like our mascot.

    1. For instance, In Thompson tapped for mars Mission it states that Mr.Thompson will take Justin Bieber's CD and I don't think Mr. Thompson likes Justin Bieber anyways.

    2. For example, in Cool Running stated that Mr.Vergara will have a team for bobsledding.I highly doubt he even knows how to play.

    In the article, “Rocky Situation for Hamilton” Mr. Celente used satire when he was describing the creature that he saw in the woods. He, along with the other people from the article actually thought they saw a gorilla looking creature that had orange fur and looked similar to a hairy man.
