Hilda Solis,the Secretary of Labor, was born on October 20,1957 in Los Angeles,California.Mrs.Solis was elected to congress in the year 2000 from the east of Los Angeles of where she grew up and served as California's state senate in 1994-2001 and assembly in 1992-1994.She was the first in her family to attend college.Also she has a master's degree in public administration.She's the first latina that was elected to California's senate.

  7. Pearl Harbor is a United States Navy Base located on the island of Oahu iN Hawaii. The attacki on Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack on December 7, 1941. There were 2,402 people killed and 1,282 people injured.

  8. The person I recieved in English class was Marion Lois Jones. She is the world champion in track and field. She was born October 12,1975 and was raised without an dad until she was 5 years old. Then her mother remarried but later on when Marion was 7 years old her second father had a stroke and past away.

  9. The person I recieved in English class was Frida Kahlo. She was born in Mexico City in 1907. Her education, and in 1922 she educational institution in Mexico, which had only just begun to admit girls. In 1925, Kahlo suffered the serious accident which was to set the pattern for much of the rest of her life.

  10. The first atomic bomb was dropped in Japan on august 9th 1945. This bomb killed 90,000,166,000 in Hiroshima and 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki. Also 15-20% died from radiation sickness and 20-30% from flash burns, 50-60% from other injuries, compounded illness.

The group of people that I have received is Tuskegee Airmen.When I first received this group of people,I had no clue on who they were and now I know how these group of people are important to our country.Tuskegee Airmen are a group of African American pilots who fought in World War II.The Tuskegee Airmen first African American military aviators in the United States armed forces.The Tuskegee Airmen were also known as the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11,1884 to November 7,1962.She was married to Franklin Roosevelt.She was First Lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945.Eleanor supported the New Deal policies of her husband,and became an advocate for civil rights.After her husband's death in 1945, Roosevelt continued to be an international author, speaker, politician, and activist for the New Deal coalition

Sandra Cisneros was born in chicago 1954, She is the only daughter in her family of seven!She is the third child to be born so she is'nt the youngest nor the oldest but she's somewhat in the middle, I would say she is One of the Oldest out of all her other brothers. She Studied at Loyola University of Chicago in 1976.She worked as a teacher and counselor at a highschool dropouts where she tought creative writing for every grade/age except pre-school and first grade. She Writes poetry and wrote books when she was teaching the arts of literatry for high-school dropouts

The person im doing is Bille Holiday.She was born in April 7,1915 and died in July 17,1959.She was a jazz singer and writter and she also had a nickname called "Lady Day".She wrote a few co-vocals and co-wrote a few songs like Jazz standards.She has also been famous for singing Easy living,good morning heartache and strange fruits.These are how Billie Holiday became famous for these songs in 1939.

  16. The person I am reseaching is Melcolm X. He wanted to be a doctor but, his teacher told him to be something with lower pay like a farmer. Melcolm X fought for black rights. He was the total different from Dr.King. Melcolm was like the type that will say, If they hit you ,you should hit then back. Melcolm X was born in May 19,1925 in Omaha, Nebraska.

  17. The person I have is Maya Angelou. Dr. Angelou is a celebrated poet, memoirist, novelist, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, and civil rights activist. She was born on April 4th, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Angelou was raised in St. Louis and Stamps, Arkansas. She gave birth to her son, Guy. She was a young single mother, she supported her son by working as a waitress. Dr. Angelou has received over 30 honorary degrees.

  24. For my English Class erport i got Sonia Maria Sotomayor. She is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, serving since August 2009. Sotomayor became the youngest judge in the Southern District and the first Hispanic federal judge in New York State.She became the first Puerto Rican woman to serve as a judge in a U.S. federal court. For being hispanic, there are many consequences for her election, and she has a long story to go along with it.

  27. For the research paper in English class, I got the Tuskegee Airmen. They were the a group of young African - Americans who served as pilots at the U.S Army Air Corps during World War II. They were from Tuskegee, Alabama. Which is why they were named "The Tuskegee Airmen". They were consisted of the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group at the U.S Air Corps.

  28. The person that I got is Cesar Chavez. Cesar was a Mexican-American farmworker. He, with Dolores Huerta founded the United Farm Workers. He worked for the morality of farmers. He also helped latinos with their unknown potential.

  30. Muhammad Ali was born 17 January 1942 in Louisville Kentucky to parents of not so good circumstances.He started boxing in junior high when he learned boxing from a policeman at a local gym. By the time that Ali had reached high school he already intended to be a prize fighter and hoped to box in the Olympics.As a boxer Ali attracted notice in 1960 by winning the Amateur Athletic Union light heavyweight and Golden Gloves heavyweight championships. At the Rome Olympics in 1960 Ali crushed his opponents to win a gold medal in the light heavyweight division.

  31. The person that i have been assigned to research is an Argentine called Ernesto "Che" Guevara. Born in June 14, 1928 - October 9, 1967 by execution. Before he had joined many rebellious organizations he studied as a medical student. As i skimmed a couple of websites i have found out that he met Raul and Fidel Castro and was once apart of their organization. There isn't much i have learned about him YET, but i believe that he is a very interesting man and love to learn his past.

  35. The person I am assigned to research is Jack Roosevelt Robinson (Jackie Robinson). He was born and raised by his mom a single parent with four siblings. His family was the only black family on the street in Georgia so they had to deal with prejudice from the neighbors. This strengthened his family bond. Being from a single parent home Jackie learned to exccel on his own sports was one of them. Eventually because of this he became the first black baseball player in the major league.

  38. The person I've been assigned to was Ernesto Guevara. Ernesto Guevara was born to Celia de la Serna y Llosa. He was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, guerrilla leader, diplomat and military theorist. In 1948, Guevara entered the University of Buenos Aires to study medicine.

  39. I was assigned Langston Hughes. He was born in Joplin, Missouri 1902 February 1. He was most known as a poet in the Harlem renaissance ( the Harlem renaissance was when African Americans expressed their beliefs through music, poetry , and art after the civil war). As a kid he always worked hard and wrote a lot. This is one of his poems. "That Justice is a blind goddess is a thing to which we black are wise: her bandage hides two festering sores that once perhaps were eyes".
    This is is about how justice should be above the color of scin but in what we have done.

  40. Maya Angelou, born Marguerite Ann Johnson in April of 1928, is still alive today and preaching her words of wisdom to us all. At age 83 today, Angelou is an author, producer, professor, activist, actress, and a true hero. Within all her work she has done, people such as Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, William Shakespeare, and so many other influential people made such an impact on Maya Angelou's creations and accomplishments. Maya has definitely made history with all she has done so far and I still think there is more to come from her brilliant mind and heart. With her honorary degree, she can be referred to by Dr. Angelou. Maya Angelou is still such an influential and inspiring voice to us all today as her words and great mind continue to liberate us.

  43. My project is based on Duke, (or Edward) Ellington. He is an inspirational jazz artist, and has written over 1,000 songs which range from jazz to blues. He leaded "big bands" and orchestras, as well as being a pianist. He was born on April 29, 1899, and died May 24, 1974. His reputation grew greatly shortly after his death.

She is becoming widely known because of her ability to influence the outcome of close votes. She was listed as one of America's Top Ten Senators in 2006.   45. I was assigned Roberto Clemente and he was known for being the best black right fielder ever. He was also known for helping people in nicaragua and also while he was doing that his plane crash and died. They never found his body, but for him being so athletic and helping charity's they gave him a medal congressal gold medal

  47. I have been assigned to research Benito Mussolini. Mussolini's full name was Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini. He was an Italian Politician who led the National Fascist Party. Mussolini was the dictator over Italy and led them into World War II.

  48. Oskar Schindler was born on April 28, 1908 in Svitavy, Moravia. After attending a series of trade schools in Brno and marriying Emilie Pelzl in 1928, he held a variety of jobs. Such as, working in his father’s farm machinery business in Svitavy and he opened a driving school in Sumperk. He also sold government property to Brno. During World War II, Schindler saved more than 1,000 Jews from deportation to Auschitwz, Nazi Germany’s largest killing center.

Arthur Ashe was one of the best tennis players in the 60s and 70s. he grew up in the south which was sadly segregated :(.He was the first African American boy tennis player to win a Grand Slam tournament. He was WAYY more than an athlete though. His loved social justice and health, which left a mark on the world as his tennis was on the court.

  52. Toni Morrison was the first African american woman to receive the Nobel Prize in literature. Morrison studied at Howard University graduated with a B.A. in english in 1953 and also studied at Cornell University earning her masters degree in 1955. She edited books for other American heros such as Muhammad Ali, Andrew Young and Angela Davis.
