Assignment: Write a brief paragraph (6-8 sentences) about what we discussed in class today in our presentations. (Think about the themes, the relationships between characters, etc).
In class we presented the vignettes "Alicea Who sees Mice", "Darius and The Clouds", and "And some more." We talked about Alicea's relationship with her, the significance of Darius calling the cloud God. For the vignette Alicea Who sees Mice, we were talking about how Alicea's dad din't have a wife to take care of him so he wanted Alicea to take her place and take care of him. He didn't want her to go to college because he wanted her to cook for him and take care of him. For Darius and the Clouds, we were talking about how Darius's personality and how he said one of the clouds was God. Finally, for And Some More, we talked about how friends get into silly fights and how Nenny is in her own world.
When I read the stories from the giver I thought that most of them had a good foundation. When I read them some of them did not have enough detail in the sentences and I didn't feel the book. But on the other hand some had way too much detail and I won't call any names. When I read some of the papers I felt like I was in the scene and they were so e really good papers. But most of the papers had to work on punctuation and there vocabulary. They need to have the addicting feeling to it so I would not put it down. Douglas Deleon period 1
Reading the stories my fellow classmates had written was an interesting assignment. As I read them I found a few things wrong but there was also a few things correct. Agreeing with Douglas, I also thought that most people had a good idea but just needed to expand it a little bit more. There was also a lot of punctuation and spelling errors. There were some stories I loved and that I couldn't put it down but, there were ones that made no sense at all. Overall, we all just need to give our stories a little more taste and make it more original and to make it connect to the book as well. ~ Vani Nair - Period 1
The vignettes we discussed in class was "Alicea Who sees Mice", "Darius and The Clouds", and "And some more." Alicea Who sees Mice was about her going to collage and her father didn't want her to go. Her father wanted her to stay home and make him food because her mother past away. Darius and the clouds were about how Darius was immature and some other things. He said that one of the clouds was god. Finally in " And some more" was about how the girls just fight about something stupid. Also how Nenny is in her own world and at the end in the chapter the author brings them back together when the girls said " who's stupid and Nenny says Rachel, Lucy, Esperanza and Nenny".
Today in class we had the students come to the front of the room to talk about their vignettes. They asked us questions about the book and discussed the main topic. The vignettes we talked about in class today were “Darius and the Clouds”, “Alicia Who sees Mice” and “And Some More.” Darius and the Clouds was strange vignette because Darius claimed that the clouds are God. Alicia who sees Mice is about a father who wants his daughter to stay home instead of going to college. After Alicia’s mother passed away, I believe her father wanted her to stay home like her mother. Additionally, he felt she was not ready to leave him and he was not ready to live by himself.
The vignette And Some More was an entertaining vignette. It was entertaining because it was an argument that took place between Esperanza, Rachael, and Lucia. They were arguing about names of the clouds, which really made no sense to me at; but it all came together at the end. While they were arguing, Nenny was giving the clouds names. At the end of the vignette, Nenny decided to name the clouds after them so when Lucia said whose stupid Nenny said “Rachael, Lucia, Esperanza, and Nenny”. It shows that unnecessary arguments can lead to losing friends. Furthermore, it also showed that Nenny has her own world when she zones away from the crowd.
In class we talked about a lot of vignettes. Personally i think it's a waste of time but i give Mr V props for at least thinking of something to do. In the vignette Alecia sees mice, her dad wont let her leave and makes her do what her mom did. Maybe he doesn't want to be lonely or doesn't want to lose another family member. In the vignette Darius sees the clouds, we discussed how Darius called one of the clouds God. I really didn't get that. Another vignette we talked about was And some more. It talked about how Esperanza and her sisters got pissed off at each other for the names for different clouds. Also Nenny has her own world and just talks even though nobody's listening.

Last class, we talked about the vignettes "Alicia Who Sees Mice," "Darius and the Clouds," "And Some More." Alicia sees mice and is scared of them, as well as her father. Her father probably wants her to be like her mother working behind a wheel, but Alicia studies hard in college. Darius is crazy and acts very funny. He saw a cloud that was supposed to be God. He said that because it is the biggest cloud there. Nenny is naming the clouds while Lucy, Rachel, and Esperanza are having a fight. They were going of on each other because of the names of clouds. Nenny wasn't paying attention and was in her own world.
Today, we talked about the vignette "The Family of Little Feet." The girls get shoes from a nice lady that makes them look grown up. They walked down the street with them and were yelled at by Mr. Benny. Then, Rachel got stopped by a drunk bum who wanted to pay her a dollar if she kissed him. Lucy pulled her away and they ran back home. When the shoes were thrown away, they didn't say anything.
well we talked about Alice who sees mice, Darius and the clouds and we also talked about and some more.i think that Alice who sees mice is more interesting not only because i was the one that was selected to talk about it but because i showed more of that women have to go passed by and some things that keep them away from there dreams.To me Darius and the Clouds is not that interconnecting but it shows that even the most trundled guy thinks about other things then messing with girls. i enjoyed and some more it was funny and the was Mr. v acted is out was even more fun.
In class we talked about the vignettes of, Papa awaking at night in the dark, Epsernzas firt job,and the comparission of clouds and the different kindof clouds.I am not sure which vigntte matched each sistuation by heart but is able to recognize all the information.I remember how foreshadowing played a major role in a vignete which kind of led us on to clues of expcting what would continue to happen.
