Assignment: Write a brief paragraph (5-6 sentences) discussing some of the ideas and concepts you saw in class Thursday when you read your classmates writing. Be specific, but not include anyone's name.
In class today their were a lot of great ideas. Some example are them being attacked by a bear, Rosemarie never dieing, and Jonas and Gabe coming back to the community. The being attacked by a bear was awesome because he/she could continue the story several different ways. Jonas could give Gabe as a sacrifice to the bear, run away with Gabe or even somehow murder or kill the bear. Rosemarie never dieing was a good idea because then it could several different ways they could go to Elmsford and live their and meet us, Could go back to the community and tell the giver she is alive, or they could live in the wild and raise Gabe. Their also is an advantage to going back he could beg for forgiveness and live their, go and bring his family out, or tell Fiona how he feels about her. This concludes why these were all great ideas
Today we read our endings' to the book The Giver. Many creative ideas and even some strange concepts. Some stories had happy endings and some stories sad endings or even death. Some examples of happy ending stories went like this: Jonas ending up back in the community safe, or even Jonas joining a new family. Some sad endings went this way: Jonas dieing and Gabriel dieing, Jonas loosing his leg and dieing from losing too much blood, or even Jonas being shot in the head!! The stories were great but the were some grammatical errors but overall there were some great endings!
In class there were many reputable stories. There were excellent ideas. For example, there was Jonas going elsewhere,a carriage with horses,Jonas and Gabriel dying, and doors opening for Jonas and Gabriel to go back to the community.I enjoyed reading different stories. The stories were very interesting from what I read.I had fun putting comments on others papers because I felt like I was the teacher.I liked every ending of every story some were clam, others were dark, and some Jonas, and Gabriel didn't die. ~Laura G.~ Period 1
In class today, the new endings to The Giver were all unique. I wish I would have gotten the chance to read all of them, but from what I read they were all very interesting. There were some mistakes in grammar and spelling, but it wasn’t anything that major. My opinion is that we should write more carefully and pay more attention to our writing. Also, if they’re going to add an unforgettable event they should add detail to describe what is happening. Detail can help the reader imagine what’s happening in a way they can understand easier. I too had a lot of grammatical mistakes and I’m suggesting that we should probably think about reviewing this topic a little more so when we write our writing is exceptional. In all, all the endings were admirable. Some had sorrowful endings, others had cheerful endings, and others had interesting/funny endings. A couple of endings were: Gabriel fell on his neck and died and Jonas broke his leg and chopped it off, Gabriel and Jonas suffered a terrible death. Rosemary ‘faked’ her death and Jonas ended up meeting her, Gabriel could talk perfectly, and he could walk. I am looking forward to read the final copies of my classmates’ endings.
today in class there was a lot of good ideas. Also some were funny and some were sad. Most of the ones I read were Jonas and Gabriel just going to another community. One that I read was that Gabriel slowly died of starvation. I liked reading a bung of other peoples ending because it helped me with ideas on how to write my final draft. Some weren't that hard to grade and some were. That us wat I thought about editing those endings today
Today in class the papers I read were very good and good details. But some of them need better punctuation, and some of them need better vocabulary. Because some of the papers had sad, mad, good and I didn't like how that sounded. And the details in the papers were very goo and it did connect to the book. So that's wat I thought about the papers today. Douglas Deleon
Today in class, I read wonderful alternate endings that had great concepts. One idea, I really enjoyed reading was about Gabriel dying, but Jonas serving his death justice in the end. A recurring problem I saw in most papers were just not having enough detail, which effected their stories by making them seem vague. Also grammar was a slight problem. I am confident that our class will have great final drafts and I enjoyed writing an alternate ending. In another story I read today, the mood was very light, despite the problem that arose. I liked that story because it was short but said a lot. From the stories I read, I feel some really complimented Lois Lowry's writing and others were too open. Overall, I feel these endings could leave The Giver with an ending that concludes the story well enough and give an actual end to a brilliant storyline.
In class there were many great endings to the giver. Some included Rosemary in the new community and others had Gabriel dying. Some were a few sentences long which made the ending confusing because there was so little detail. There were a lot of grammar problems in most of the paragraphs as well. I think our class will have really diverse endings after we fix them up a bit. Overall I believe that all of the endings went with the story completely and we will end up with excellent paragraphs.
In class, we presented our rough drafts of our additional endings to The Giver. This was to give a proper ending to the novel "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. Some had very little detail with general events and points. Others had very powerful endings with details in them. Some also had fantastic vocabulary and high - level grammar. Others also had many grammar and spelling mistakes. Some of the manuscripts and printed documents I read and reviewed were very cold, grim and led to Jonas's end. Others had time travel and lived happily ever after with Gabriel. A few in particular were very funny like Jonas having a petrifying encounter with a bear and Jonas using a .9 millimeter pistol gun!! Most were very depressing like Jonas freezing to death, Gabriel and Jonas breaks their bones and dies and one about Jonas getting shot!! These are some hardcore stories man! Can't wait till I see those final drafts.
In class we saw each-other's endings. With my honest opinion the other endings were terrific. I really need to make mine a lot better to match up with the others. Some endings were happy but there were also negative ones and some were just plain random. I almost laughed to death when I read “the emancipator". If I was Mr. Vergara I would give the whole class ten out of ten.
In class I saw many terrific endings for The Giver. I saw many hilarious ones to many serious and deep endings. I saw endings that were actually terrific and some endings that were random and off topic. I read an ending that just made me think wow that was great. Some made me laugh nonstop. In the end however, the entire class did a great job making endings for The Giver.
In class I read many endings to the book The Giver . I think everyones ending fit the book and all of them were different which made it even more interesting. Exciting and happy ending verses sad and kinda of upsetting either way they were incredible. I loved seeing the possible ways this book can end up. I loved how everyone didn't go with a general ending but put there own style to it. Some were Sad, some unbelievable and even hilarious. These endings made me think of how many ways this book could have went and how unlucky or lucky jonas could have been throughout the book.
On Thursday, I read many unique endings to "The Giver". Each one was different, fit the book well, and were interesting. There were depressing endings of Jonas and Gabriel starving and dying in the whited out wilderness, there were some that added a sudden twist, and and a couple that ended somewhat perfectly. This amazed me, thinking of how many ways this book could have ended, weather it be complete rapture, or a dark, sudden ending. Sometimes I even thought the endings were written by Lois Lowry himself. I cant wait to see many improvements on the final drafts.
On Thursday there were a couple of endings that i read for "The Giver." All of them were different and unique. Most of the endings were dark and either Jonas or Gabriel would die. One great idea was when Jonas and Gabe were on their journey to Elsewhere and found another community. This gave both of them hope for the two boys for living. One of my favorite was with "the emancipator." This ending was the most humorist ones.
I really enjoyed most of the stories I read. Some stories ended with Jonas finding the Giver either in" elsewhere" or in his old community changed from the lost memories. Most of the stories I read ended with Jonas or Gabriel dying. They were both interesting endings and though we were only supposed to write about two pages I wanted to keep reading and wanted there to be more in the story. Olivia Nembhard
