My interpretation of respect or disrespect for diffrent cultures, would be from my own expirience I am bi-lingual half black and half puerto rican. What would give me the right to disrespect either race we are who we are and we all should be treated with respect reguardless of what color or culture or religion we represent. Either way we are all human just a diffrent skin color.

My interpretation of this qoute is like when others are from different cultures your still the same no matter where you come from, and just because your a different race you don't have to be disrespectful to each other.I also say I agree of what Cesar Charez has said in this qoute because he probably nows alot of people who are mainly bi-lingual or other types Of race.I think Also what he is trying to explain is like how dr. King changed everything in the world. These are examples for everybody to get along if your different from race or color and doesn't matter where you come from.

My interpertation of this meaning full quote is I have to agree with the man. For example,if someone in my culture disrespected another culture than that culture mat even disrespect the whole inter culture. Another example, if some one says it's a funny culture it will make us feel bad. Final example, no one should disrespect a culture if they want there culture disrepected. In conclusion who you are and where you come from does matter because it makes you yourself and you shouldn't disrespect any culture.

My interpretation of this quote is that, even though people are from different cultures,it does not mean you disrespect them. For example, people think I am Hindu because I'm an Indian {which I'm not}and they like making fun of me,which is disrespectful,so I am going to agree with this quote.I think Cesar Chavez probably wrote this quote because he probably was treated like this,in his childhood.I agree with Dezere and Emily it does not matter where you come from, who cares if others make fun of you of what you are, people should be proud for what they are today.

My interpretation of this quote by Cesar Chavez is that, even though we come from different or very different cultures we shouldn't disrespect the rest or different type of culture where you come from.I agree that treating other cultures poorly is disrespect. No matter where you come from or what is your culture you have no right to give other cultures with disrespect.

My interpretation of this quote is people from different cultures at least give a little respect to all cultures.I agree with this quote because I'm Mexican, and it's disrespectful hearing things from others. For example,in the news, racism always occurs to all cultures.Even though, people are from different cultures you shouldn't be disrespectful to them.

Good job so far. I like the way Justin referenced Dezi D. and Emily in his post. This shows me that we're reading each other's work and learning from one another. Mr. Chavez was an important man (he passed away in 1993) and fought for equal rights specifically for Latinos but his message carried over for all people who were treated unfairly. He co-founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962. I hope some of you take the time to learn a little more about him. He was truly a great man...and Laura G - guess what? Cesar was a Mexican-American - and would agree with what you said. He is one of the greatest Latino civil rights activists of the 20th century!!

My interpertation of this qoute is that everyone has a culture. Its okay but if someone is not the same color or culture as you, what would give you the right to treat them diffrent the reason why God made everyone diffrent is because the world would be boring if there was no difference. There are still some people that make fun or treat other cultures diffrently but that dosn't mean you sould too.

My interpretation of this quote by Cesar Chavez is that if two different people believe in completely different creed it doesn't make one beneath the other. I completely agree with this quote. I feel this way because our culture and who we are makes us unique not unequal. In conclusion, the preservation of ones culture doesn't require the hatred for others or contemptment.
ReplyDeleteMy interpretation of this quote by Cesar Chavez is how people think of each other as stero types. For example people think African Americans are always rough and tough. Why can't they be a person with an education and that have a successful life? Why should all of us be the same color when we can be unique with our own culture and color of our skin. I feel people just look at you and judge you on your heritage. I've gotten people come up to me saying to help them because I'm an Indian and they think all Indians ae smart and have a crazy accent. Its just our culture, same as Spanish, Chineese, and African American.I'm mostly Indian but I'm also half American which for some reason means that I'm an alien from a different planet to other people. I honestly dont get why people make such a big deal or an issue on someones culture. We all should have connections to each other since were different.

I agree with Cesar Chavez. My interpretation of this quote by Cesar Chavez is how some people disrespect other people’s culture because its different or doesn’t have what their culture has. Many cultures are the same and different in many ways. I was born in Colombia but grew up my toddler years in California and then moved here. Most people from the southern American countries can very well describe what they have because they grew up in their country longer then I did. Because of this my parents told me all the stuff from Colombia. For instance sports, food, celebrations, holidays etc. I now know a lot of my country and feel proud I can describe it as well as other. It doesn’t feel the same because I didn’t actually do the things but at least I know about my culture. For example, most cultures are different because of what they wear and the holiday’s they celebrate, but they’re also the same in foods. In the Dominican Republic I have heard they eat rice with beans, but in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia and most southern countries eat the same thing. I don’t understand why there is racism if we are all humans except with different skin color. I think that having different cultures makes us different and unique. That makes us special. In a way we learn from each other and try out different activities from all cultures.

Well I think that the white people where always bragging about how they had more money and they were the best. But Chavez thought that people should all be treated equally and with respect just as they would wanted to be treated with. Nobody wants to be treated badly and disrespected because I know when I get disrespected I get mad and I sometimes get into fights because of this. So chavez to me is like another martin luther king he speaks his mind and he's a leader. This to me is like bullying 2 because bully toss you around and expect you to give them respect and treat them nice after everything they have did 2 you. That is what I think about that

To me what this quote is saying is dont jugde a book by its cover.Just becuase a different culture does something different than you dont go on an say bad things about them or don't disrespect how they do it.I also agree with what the quote isaying because it isn't right to jugde others because they do something differnt from you. Also try not to say anything about that culture that will hurt others feelings.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ceser Chavez that we should all respect each other cutlers and not disrespect each other. For example, there are still many raises people that I have encounter and it bothers me alot. I wish that they can see we are all equal. I as a Mexican American respect all culters I don't think that white have better and us have less NO! We are all equal. I think that we should all follow Ceser Chavez quote. What bothers me more when people go treats you different just how your are in culters. Like if a white person walks into a resturent and good treatment then a (no rises) black or Hispianic gets bad trement. I think we should all follow Ceser Chavez quote.

In his quote Cesar Chavez integrates importance of respecting another culture. He explains that negative input and derogatory words should not be used when addressing another's culture. I agree completely with what Chavez has said here and I can connect with it. I have traveled to some places where I have seen such an incredible difference in environment and culture. If you had even a glance at the news today, most unknowing minds would look at Egypt as raging, uncivilized animals. Egypt is in turmoil now, but they are people fighting to protect their right of a fair election, free of their current president, Hosni Mubarak. Egypt may not have the highest literacy rate, or cleanest streets but they are passionate and dedicated people. The Egyptians would do anything to protect their land, rights, and religion. They are such a diverse and unique group of people living in a cultural hub, who lead civil lives. People should approach unfamiliar cultures with an ignorant mind. People should not feel superior to another person because of a different skin color or different morals and beliefs. Humans must learn to understand that race is not a means of superiority.

I think that Cesar Chavez is trying to say that some cultures Preserves better than other cultures. He doesnt want to offend people.I disagree of what Cesar says. I dont think its good not to preserve because its not good for planet earth.
ReplyDeleteThis quote by Cesar Chavez shows that the preservation of one's self and culture is itself an importance and shows this does not require disrespect to other cultures. "We are all human after all" there's no need to discriminate and segregate from each other because of skin color, religion, language and other cultural bases. I agree to Chavez about his saying. Despite our differences at the outside, we are all the same species. I recently watched this movie called "The Color of Friendship." It was about a Caucasian South African that was moved to a African - American family in Washington D.C from Apartheid South Africa (Apartheid means separateness). She described how Africans back home have to have a "Pass" to be able to be accessible to jobs and and little rights compared to their Caucasian rulers. She also describes about a bird called the weaver bird and it's nest full of birds of all colors. Despite their different colors, they all live together in a community and care for each other. Chavez was a activist like Dr. King and looking for peace and humanity like John Lennon. He showed many minorities (especially Hispanics) that their culture is nothing to hide from others. You have to show who you are and fortify your culture for you are who you are.

Cesar Chavez was a Mexican civil rights activist. He fought for the legal rights of farm workers and for the people who didn't have the same rights as the whites. I think what Cesar Chavez means is that you do not need to disrespect another's culture to maintain your culture. I agree with this because really many people might think that they need to disrespect someone's culture. To keep your own culture, you do not need to disrespect another person's culture. I think Chavez would say this because the time where he was living, there was an innumerable number of whites that disrespected African Americans, thinking that it was what they needed to do. Cesar Chavez fought for civil rights and he wanted the segregation to end between all these cultures.

My interpretation of this quote is that some people don't respect somebody's culture that is different from theirs. I agree with the quote because you should not make fun of somebodys cultural even though there culture is different or unusualle then yours.Cesar Chavez is right with this quote because if somebody discribes there culture it does not mean that they follow there culture. It could be their background culture. I agree with Cesar Chaz, you don't have to hurt another culture to improve your own. Just because some believes in a different god or do different ceremonies doesn't mean you should discriminate someone else's culture. I think Cesar Chaz was into civil rights and didn't like racism. Hitler for example did not believe in this philosophy or quote instead he tried to wipe out a whole culture. people like Hitler don't deserve to live but we learn from our mistakes and Cesar Chaz told everyone how to treat each other with respect

I agree with Cesar Chaz's quote. If you feel your culture is being offended in any way, you shouldn't fight back. Fire against fire doesn't always necessarily work. If there is a way you would want to find peace in two cultures, work it out, don't go and hurt someone back. Wars last too long this way. Have a clean fight, if you will. Find the good things in life. It's too short to be opposed of and thought racist. Cesar Chaz was against discrimination and stereotypes. He believed diversity and peace within a community was the right way. I completely agree. No reason to clash with someone because of their ethnicity or beliefs.

In my opinion, I do agree with the quote. I think so because you don't need to discredit some one else's belief or god.You can still believe in your own culture without hurting another's culture. Everyone should believe in there own god without hurting another god. Every one should believe in there own god in peace, you don't need to discredit some else's belief because they don't believe in your god. Dont hurt other peoples belief because it is also the wrong thing to do.
ReplyDeleteIn my own words I think Cesar Chavez's quote means that you can practice your own beliefs without having to comment on what someone else may believe. Yes, many people believe that spreading their culture around the world is a way to create peace. But most people are discriminated against because of there beliefs. I am in total agreement with Chavez's quote. And, if your truly a undiscriminating person you'd also agree with his quote

my interpretation is that just because their culture are different doesnt give the right to disrespect them. you should respect other for who they are.they should treat others the way they wanna be treated.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cesar Chavez . I interpret that he is trying to say , that if we want to accept and we should respect others even if we are different. For example, someone may be Christian and might just respect who are also Christian, but will not show one bit of respect to a Jewish person. We all might be this way one way or another either by culture or by other differences, like skin color. In the end we should just be like Cesar chavez And let's see if we will firm the kind of world Cesar Chavez pictured it.
ReplyDeleteI interpret this quote to mean that if you want people to know about your culture, you dont jave to bring down a different culture. I find that this quote is true time and time again. This references back to segregation. The white people segregated the colored people to make sure that their culture is the best. According to Chavez this was not neccesary. They could have plainly treated everybody with respect for their culture but still have their own opinion. This also references to bullying. The bully wants respect for what he does. What he can do is just have respect for himself. I completely agree with this quote. I also think that many hated people could have done better if they followed this philosophy.

i agree with this quote. i agree with this quote because no one should be treated differently because of where they are from. its very disresepectful to judge someone from where they are from. its not right to be rude to somebody because of where they are from or because what they look like. more people should be more careful into what they say , because sometimes it can get out of hand.

In my own opinion I fully agree on this quote. It is stating that we shouldn't criticize on a different culture when we have different religion and culture that doesn't relate to what another person does. Since we are all different we all have a different way of living. People may stare and think others are crazy, others may have interest. People may look at me and think I'm Mexican. I'm not, I'm Peruvian. Sometimes even I do this. But, you could never judge a book by it's cover. Give it respect and dignity.

What I believe the quote is saying is not to judge a book by its cover. Every single person has a way of living which is their culture and religion. Even you may have a different religion does not give you the right to insult other people or disrespect them no matter what.
ReplyDeleteMy interpertation of this quote` is that you should not jugde people based upon thier race, culture or skin color. We are all humans who make mistakes and live on the same earth. You should be opened to trying new things like food from other cultures or speaking the laguage of other cultures,Instead of telling people their cultuers food taste nasty just because that is not the way your culture makes their food. You should respect the way cultures dress or worship gods because it can mean something significant to them.Even if you thik it is odd be respectful and don't laugh at what people do in their culture.Every one is unique in ther own way,and I totally agree with this quote.
ReplyDeleteMy interpertation of this quote is that people should not be disrepected because of the color of there skin or their culture. For example I am half black and half belize. And black people have been taken advantage and have been juged because of them always being low class. So by knowing that I would not like being disrespected by any othere culture, I would not disrespect someone else because of their culture or skin color because I would know how much it hurts.

My interpretation of this quote is that people should'nt be judged by their skin color , or their culture , but by their personality.God made this world for a reason , to preserve life.If we are going to fight he would probably do away with us all.Though , he did'nt he gave us a chance to stop the fighting and we need to embrace that second chance he gave us.All people are equal no matter what skin color or culture. It's like were all one big , family living on this colassal sphere we cal earth , and we need to live it up before it's gone.
