  2. I think the zoos in The Pigman and They Cage the Animals at Night both symbolize places of protection for Mr. Pignati and Jennings. Jennings had no where to go so he stayed at the zoo. Mr. Pignati has Bobo the baboon in the zoo. Bobo is Mr. Pignati's best friend. I think Mr. Pignati is very lonely so he comes to the zoo to visit Bobo. I think Mr. Pignati and Jennings are both pure in their hearts and they're humble. Their interest in going to the zoo probably has to do with their humbleness or because they are lonely. The zoos might be symbolizing a refuge for them or maybe even a confidante that they go to when they are lonely. - Shawn Thomas

  3. I think the zoos in the The Pigman and They Cage the Animals at Night symbolizes something important to them that they will never forget.Mr. Pignati goes to the zoo just to visit his friend Bobo who is a monkey.Mr.Pignati's wife died so he goes to see Bobo and feed him peanuts.Jennings had stuffed animals and he got a bear which he didnt want to let go of.The bear was like his confidante and he even asked one of the ladies to let him keep it.He hid it under his pillow so the lady of the Home of the Angels wouldnt put it back in the closet.

  4. The zoos in both books both symbolize sanctuaries for Jennings and the pigman. In the cage animals at night Jennings goes to the zoo to find protection from the nuns and a place for comfort. The pigman goes to the zoo to meet Bobo, his friend monkey. Bobo is like the pigmans only friend after his wife died. The zoo is probably a place that will bring the hopes up for many people. - Joshua V.

  5. The zoos in both books symbolize a refuge from all the stress of the real world. For They Cage the Animals at Night, it is a way for Jennings to get away from the hurtful nuns and whatever they call orphanage workers. Plus, in the beginning and end of the book where Jennings is an adult, the zoo allows him to remember his past. For The Pigman, it is a way for Mr. Piganti to stay sane by talking to Bobo. When John and Lorraine come into the picture, it seems he goes to the zoo just to stay "friends" with Bobo. And by the way, even though Shawn T. wrote 8 sentences, they can all be compressed into ~5 sentences.

  6. In They Cage the Animals at Night, the zoo symbolizes a safe place where Jennings can go. He often hid there when he would run away from the abuse by nuns and other people. In The Pigman, the zoo was also a place of refuge. Mr. Pignati would visit his "friend" Bobo - the baboon everyday. Because his wife had died, Bobo and the zoo was his way of replacing her.

  7. In The Pigman, the zoo symbolizes both protection and friendship for Mr. Pignati. It protects him from dealing with the loss of his wife. It also offers friendship because he goes to visit his new "friend" Bobo everyday and he takes his new friends, John and Lorraine there to give Bobo peanuts. In They Cage the Animals at Night, the zoo represents a refuge and escape for Jennings. He goes there to hide from the people who try to hurt him. It's a special place for both characters to have protection from the world.

  8. In The Pigman, the zoo symbolizes a place of relaxation and friendship. Mr. Pignati forgets about everything else and enjoys his time with his "friend," Bobo. In They Cage The Animals at Night, the zoo is a place of protection and escape. The nuns are mean and cruel to Jennings, and won't let him keep the stuffed bear. He is tired of it and runs away t the zoo. I t is like a new home to him, away from the rest of the world.
