Why do you think John and Lorraine struggle so much in their relationships with their parents? (Please post your first and last name before you write your response)
The reason I think John and Lorraine have trouble with their parents is because of a few things. For one thing, since they're both teens they are cursed to have trouble with their parents. Secondly, for John he is a troublemaker and doesn't give a **** about what his parents tell him. Also, John put glue in the telephone lock, to add to the flame. For Lorraine, it's because her mother is single and going through tough times, so she vents to Lorraine.
i think what lorraine and john struggle with their relationship with there parent are not there for them. john dad is a alcohol and john follows his steps. lorraine mom is going threw a rough time and makes fun of her.
I think John and Lorraine struggle so much in their relationships with their parents cause their parents dont know what to do wit both of them. John smokes and drinks because of his dad that is a alcohol addict. Lorraine only has a mom cause her dad went away from the family and then died. Her mom has to work and doesnt know a lot about Lorraine. Her mom has a tough time havin a child without the dad.
I think John and Lorraine struggle to have a good relationship with their parents because I think that they are starting to become more independent. I think John gets annoyed by his parents and he doesn't really care what they do. I think John has trouble communicating with his parents and I think his emotions causes him to do the things he does like put airplane glue in the keyhole of the lock on the phone. For Lorraine, I think she has trouble communicating with her mom also and her mom probably doesn't know how Lorraine really is and how she feels about things. I think they don't want their parents to be close with them.
I think John and Lorraine have trouble getting along with their parents because of the way their parents and them act. John's dad smokes and drinks and his mom is crazy. Lorraine's mom is put under a lot of pressure by being a single mom. On the other hand John is a bad kid, he puts bombs in the bathroom. Finally, journal #8 talks about how teens have trouble getting along with their parents. Teens and their parents don't mix
I think John and Lorraine has trouble getting along with there parents because the way they influence them and the way they act toward them. John's father smokes and drinks and his mother is a nut case and doesn't know what to do with her life. Lorraine's mother makes terrible comments about Lorraine all the time and Lorraine's self of steam decreases. Also, Lorraine's mother is a single mom and it is hard to raise Lorraine by herself because Lorraine is a teen and she goes through stages and her mother cant put up with that. -Sabatina Davella.
I think that John and Lorriane struggle with their parents relationship because their parents are not ready for kids. They cant even take care of them selves so they don't need children. They don't care about their child's school work our what is going on in their child's life. Since they have a lot of problems at home they take their problems out on their kid. John and Lorriane are not being supported in life and they are not being treated right from wrong.
I think that John and Lorainne have troubles with their parents. I think this because their parents don't want them to grow up. Lorainne's mom is always asking her to do work and to stay safe. She doesn't even care about her schoolwork or anything. She just wants her to stay away from boys. Also, her dad died, so it is hard on the family still. John and Lorraine's relationship with their parents were horrific. John's father was a alcoholic who had abusive rages and wasn't a very good father figure to John; he didn't show John much attention. John's mother on the other hand was much more sophisticated, but often made comparison between John and his older brother which made him feel very unwanted. Because of these undertakings, John often engaged in licentious activities and actions. Lorraine's mother had a horrendous past, she was cheated on by her husband. Because of this she was always in a bad mood and often took it out on Lorraine. Lorraine's mom loved her dearly and didn't want her to fall in the same trap she's stuck in and because of that she harshly chastised Lorraine. Lorraine didn't feel loved by her mother and because of that she often sought elsewhere for love as you will see throughout the book with her relationship with John and Mr.Pignati
I think john and lorraine have problems with their parents because Lorraine's mom is single and she can't do everything on her own but, her mother also doesnt have the right to tell her shes not very pretty. Maybe her mother said that because she might be under alot of stress. With John..He is a very big trouble maker and his parents can deal with him. He is always on the phone to long so his father decided to put a lock on it. John also drinks and smokes. Which is really horrible at his age.
From my perspective of things i think Lorraine and john struggle to have a stabbled realationship with their parents because,they want to think they know everything.Also,they dont feel like being lectured around.
