Similie: Two things being compared using the words like or as. I'm healthy as an ox.
ReplyDeleteMetaphor: Basically like a similie, but without using like or as. Max's room is so messy, it looks like a pigsty.
Hyperbole: Exaggerating something you'd normally say. That lady at McDonald's was fat as a whale!
Personification: Giving nonliving things human adjetives. The fire danced on the walls.
Onomatopoeia: Exaggerating sounds in words.
Alliteration: When every word in the sentence begins with the same letter or sound.

3.) Hyperbole: An exaggerated statement that is not to be taken literally.
- Its raining cats and dogs outside.
4.) Personification: When you give an object, idea, or an animal only something humans can do.
- The stars smiled down at me from the skies.
5.) Onomatopoeia: The use of words that imitate the sounds from the objects or actions they come from.
- You can hear the howls from the wolves at night
6.) Alliteration: When almost each word in a sentence starts with the same letter.
- Sally sells sea-shells by the sea shore.

An onomatopoeia is a word that sounds like the word it represents.
"The leaves crunch when you walk through them in the fall."
An alliteration would be using the same letter or sound at the beginning of closely connected words.
